Editorial & Print Workflow
An editorial workflow system built on WordPress for a newsroom that still produces a print edition. Reporters and editors create articles through a custom publish-status pipeline (draft, pending review, roughed, ready to print, published), while a separate print pages module lays those articles out onto pages tied to specific publications and editions.
Finished pages export to Scribus or InDesign for the print production side; that export tooling was already part of the system, and my work was on the surrounding article and print-page management, dashboards, and editorial workflow around it.
Dashboard and progress overview
A daily dashboard summarizes article and print-page status across the shop, with breakdowns of draft, pending review, ready-to-print, and published states.
Article management
Articles move through a custom publish-status pipeline from draft through print-ready, matching how the newsroom actually creates and reviews content.
Print page management
Print pages are tracked separately from articles, each scoped to a publication with its own status and revision history.
Page building and export
Individual pages support Scribus and InDesign workflows, including applying templates, importing and exporting layout files, and injecting articles onto the page.
